The Colombian international has been in high demand recently thanks to his top performances for Fiorentina last season, which he then followed up with a star turn at this summer’s World Cup, helping the South American’s to a quarter-final appearances.

The 26-year-old was believed to have been in talks with Barca about a switch to the Camp Nou but, after negotiations stalled, Louis van Gaal reportedly ordered United officials to make a £31m offer to land Cuadrado.

However, reports in Spain are now claiming that the player favours a move to Catalonia over joining United. United apparently can offer him more money, but he is thought to favour a move to Barcelona anyway, and will tell Fiorentina officials as much when he meets with the on Wednesday.

Cuadrado, who joined the Serie A outfit from Udinese in 2012 – scored once and created four assists in Colombia’s run to the quarter-finals in the World Cup this summer.
