Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino is keen to pursue the loan signing of Manchester United’s England International forward Danny Welbeck.

According to reports in the Daily Mail, the Spurs boss was in Milton Keynes to watch the striker on Tuesday, as Louis van Gaal’s side crashed out of the Capital One Cup at the hands of the League 1 Dons.

Pochettino is keen for further signings before the transfer window closes on Monday, and added Sevilla defender Federico Fazio to his squad yesterday evening.

Tottenham are believed to be among a number of teams interested in Welbeck, but unlike Sunderland and Hull City, they offer European football. North London rivals Arsenal have also been linked, but White Hart Lane is believed to be the player’s preferred destination.

The Argentine is also interested in Jay Rodriguez, but the Southampton striker will not be fit until January and relations between the clubs were soured by a failed swoop for Morgan Schneiderlin.
