Man City Lead Man United In Dani Alves Chase

Etihad Stadium side lead chase for Barcelons wide-man.

Exit bound Barcelona full-back Dani Alves is believed to favour a move to Man City over a potential switch to local rivals Man United according to the Daily Star.

The 31 year old Brazilian international is out of contract in the summer and Louis van Gaal is said to be desperate to sign the experienced right-back though the presence of former Barca directors Txiki Begiristain and Ferran Soriano at the Etihad Stadium has given Manuel Pellegrini the edge in the chase to bring in the former Sevilla man.

Alves, 31, has revealed that he wants to leave the Nou Camp next year to head for the Premier League – and United boss Louis Van Gaal is desperate to sign a right-back with Alves known to be on his radar.

One would have to wonder as to why Pellegrini would be so keen to land Alves given his current options in the left-back role.

The Premier League title holders brought in French international Bacary Sagna to act as a strong back-up to first choice starter Pablo Zabaleta and whilst neither player is particularly young neither is Alves.
