Eden Hazard, Harry Kane and David de Gea are among the favourites tipped to claim the prize this season, as they have been the star players for their respective clubs over the campaign.

Kane, whether he is handed the award or not, has achieved more than most in a breakthrough Premier League season – earning his first senior international call up with England, and sitting level with Diego Costa and Sergio Aguero as the top flight’s top scorer with 19 goals.

The news has spread quickly on Twitter with fans having their say on the nominees – and there’s a great deal of laughter, and disbelief, over Liverpool’s Coutinho getting nominated.
