Ander Herrera has scored to put Manchester United 1-0 up against Arsenal with half an hour of the game gone.
Should the Red Devils hold on to this lead they will go above their North London rivals in to third in the Premier League. This could mean that they won’t have to play a tricky Champions League qualifier to get in to the competition proper next season. However, the Gunners do have a game in hand on United, playing relegation battlers Sunderland in mid-week.
In what has been a scrappy game so far the home side went ahead thanks to a controlled volley from the Spanish ace at the back post. The 25-year-old was unmarked, with several Arsenal defenders drawn to challenging Marouane Fellaini in the air but failing to clear the ball.
Arsene Wenger hasn’t tasted victory at Old Trafford in the Premier League for nine years, and it isn’t looking good for the Frenchman to change this record. Can United build on the early lead?
