HUGE Chelsea deal for England international held up by single SNAG

Chelsea’s deal for Everton star John Stones is being held up by Barnsley‘s 15% sell on clause on the player, reports the Daily Star.

As a part of the deal that saw the 21-year-old join the Toffees, the Championship are due a significant amount of any transfer fee. This has led to the Merseyside outfit rejecting offers of £20 million and £26 million for their prize asset, knowing they won’t get the entire fee for the player.

As a result the Premier League champions may have to pay £30 million if they want to sign the centre-back. This could become another stumbling block, as they are only willing to go up to £29 million for his signature according to the Star. Either amount could leave Barnsley raking in over £4 million for the defender.

Jose Mourinho seems to be interested in the youngster as a successor to John Terry. His skipper is now 34-years-old, and although Kurt Zouma is already at the club it looks like the Portuguese wants another promising centre-back to deal with Terry’s impending waning of ability.
