Manchester United: Louis van Gaal refuses to comment on goalkeeper transfer

Speaking to the media ahead of Manchester United’s Premier League clash against Swansea City, Louis van Gaal has fielded questions relating to goalkeeper Victor Valdes.

The Spain international and World Cup winner has been tipped for a departure from Old Trafford this summer, but as yet, no move has been forthcoming.

When questioned about the player’s future, van Gaal was coy, and refused to reveal whether the stopper was on his way out of the club.

“When we want to do announcements, we shall do it,” he began, as reported by the Mirror, when the question of Valdes’s future was put to him, “not when you ask us.”

Despite the potential departure to Real Madrid of his compatriot David De Gea [ESPN], Valdes looks certain to leave Old Trafford having fallen down in the club’s pecking order.

New addition Sergio Romero has impressed between the sticks since his arrival in the summer, while a dispute between Valdes and coach van Gaal looks to have ended the veteran’s hopes of making an impression in Manchester [ESPN].

There has been considerable interest in his services with Turkey, with Futbol Arena‘s Ertan Suzgun [via Turkish Football] reporting on Tuesday that Super Lig giants Besiktas had agreed a two-year deal with the player, with the option to extend by another year.

Should he move to Istanbul, Valdes would add his name to the likes of Robin van Persie and Nani, as players who have swapped Old Trafford for the Turkish top flight this summer.

Sport have reported that both Fenerbahce and Galatasaray are also keen on Valdes.
