Barcelona star takes to Instagram to slam ‘f*****g trash’ press

Barcelona right-back Dani Alves has taken to social media to launch a furious tirade on the media, following what he deems to be unfair coverage of his side.

The full-back was incensed by perceived bias and unnecessary coverage by the Spanish media following the Catalan giants’ La Liga draw with Espanyol.

The derby was ill tempered, with rumours of a bust-up in the tunnel and ugly insults being exchanged between both sides.

However, despite being part of the event, Alves is furious with the coverage of the match, and branded the media as ‘f*****g trash’ in a truly livid outburst on Instagram.

“Truly each day I feel more embarrassed to be a part of this sport, the way we are used and the way they play with us,” the Brazil international began.

“We are objects used by the press for their benefit, so they sell newspapers. Less and less they talk about football, strategy, play, the runs to score goals, the saves and the spectacle.”

The two local rivals played each other twice last week, with each match being punctured by altercations and confrontations between two sets of players who clearly despise each other.

Their La Liga bout ended in a 0-0 draw, while Espanyol capitulated in the first leg of their Copa del Rey semi-final, losing two players to red cards and seeking to disrupt Barca’s play with overtly physical tackles at every occasion.

Intriguingly, however, Espanyol have wholly escaped the Selecao star’s social media rant, with Alves only choosing to aim his ire at the media.
