Though clubs ordinarily don’t give their two sense in official statements regarding rumours of player transfers, Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund are apparently no ordinary club. When a recent transfer report regarding midfielder Ilkay Gundogan was released, the club decided to respond to the report with a hilarious comeback.
A report on Friday morning from Diario SPORT indicated that Gundogan was poised to reject a transfer move to Barcelona in order to accept a move to Manchester City. Per the report, Dortmund had reached a transfer agreement with City to send the German midfielder to the Premier League outfit. However, Borussia Dortmund made the rare decision to respond to the rumours on Twitter and dealt the report a sick burn at the same time:
.@sport Really? We should know about that, shouldn’t we? Truth is, we don’t know anything about that.

Ouch! – Borussia Dortmund basically tossed the report into the garbage with a straight denial of the report. It looks like someone is going to be called out as a liar by the end of the season…
Gundogan has been heavily linked with a move to Liverpool to reunite with his former manager Jurgen Klopp.
