Chelsea and Everton are locked in a race to sign Sporting Lisbon defensive midfielder Carvalho according to the Mirror.
Per the source, the Portuguese international midfielder will cost around £30 million.
The 24-year-old put on an impressive set of performances for Portugal at Euro 2016 this summer playing the entirety of the victory over France in the final.
Chelsea did recently sign N’Golo Kante from Leicester City but Antonio Conte is also reported to be interested in the services of Carvalho.
Everton meanwhile received a financial boost over the summer following the investment of new majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri.
Carvalho rose through the youth ranks of the Sporting academy system and does have another four-years remaining on his contract.
24-year-old Carvalho has featured 27 times for Sporting this season in the Portugese top flight, helping them to a second place finish in the Primeira League.
Carvalho scored a total of three goals and provided three assists in 36 appearances for Sporting in all competitions.
