Manchester United and Chelsea on high transfer alert as La Liga superstar open to Premier League switch

Antoine Griezmann has sparked the interest of both Manchester United and Chelsea by revealing that if he leaves Atletico Madrid then it will be to move to the Premier League.

The 25-year-old has established himself as one of the top players in Europe since moving to Atleti from Real Sociedad in 2014.

After a stellar campaign last year, he has nine goals in 16 appearances in all competitions so far this season as he continues to set a very high standard.

However, as noted by the Metro, both United and Chelsea have been linked with an interest in the French international in the past and they could now be set for a transfer battle to acquire his services.

“I am in Madrid, we have a good team, I want to win titles,” Griezmann said in an interview with Telefoot, as noted by the Metro.

“PSG is an interesting project but I don’t want to move to Ligue 1 now. I prefer to stay in La Liga or the Premier League. If I had to leave La Liga today, it will be for England.

“But my objective is not to leave.”

Although it isn’t a concession that he wants to leave Spain, his comments will undoubtedly be heard both in Manchester and London and will give both clubs a reason to monitor Griezmann’s situation and make enquiries about his availability.

It will undoubtedly take a hefty fee to prise him away from the Spanish capital such is his importance to Diego Simeone’s side, but ultimately given his form over the last two years in particular, he is on a level that would help any interested party move closer to achieving their objectives and would make his signing a very sensible one.
