Out-of-favour Barcelona ace vows to fight for future and rules out exit

Barcelona full-back Aleix Vidal has insisted that he will remain at the club and fight for his future after an impressive display against Borussia Monchegladbach on Tuesday night.

It’s been a tough season for the 27-year-old as he has been out of Luis Enrique’s plans despite the fact that at one stage he was the club’s only available right back.

Having returned to play an important role in the 3-0 win in the Champions League in midweek, he has now delivered a defiant message over his future and has insisted that he plans on remaining with the Catalan giants.

“The club can decide what it wants to do but I have no intention of leaving,” he is quoted as saying by Sky Sports. It would be stupid to leave the best club in the world and I believe I can succeed here.”

Vidal has made just four appearances in all competitions so far this season and so he has some way to go yet before fully convincing Enrique that he is the man to fill the gap in his defence.

Barca lost Dani Alves to Juventus in the summer and critics have insisted that they have failed to adequately replace the Brazilian star.

However, Vidal believes he can step in and deliver on a consistent basis, but one impressive performance won’t be enough as he’ll have to find a level of consistency in the weeks ahead to prove it.
