Spanish source El Mundo Deportivo claim that Pep Guardiola is hoping to lure Real Madrid midfielder Mesut Ozil to the Allianz Arena.

The former Barcelona boss will take over at the Bavarian club in the summer and is said to be keen on landing the Real Madrid playmaker and talk of an apparent rift developing between the Bernabeu players and their boss Jose Mourinho may well aid any move to capture the German international.

Ozil may be keen on a potential return to the Bundesliga and such a move could be helped by the presence of Guardiola and may be all the more likely to succeed if Mourinho is still in charge of Real Madrid by the summer.

The 24 year old is into his third season at the La Liga giants and has been a veritable assist making machine, racking up 60 in 135 appearances.
