Napoli have insisted that Edinson Cavani’s contract situation at the club remains unchanged according to Tutto Mercato Web.

Cavani has become one of the most sought after players in Europe after a number of successful seasons with the Italian side.

The player currently sits top of the Italian top goalscorers chart and he has propelled his side to second in the Serie A table.

But the club admitted in recent weeks that Cavani has a clause in his contract that would force Napoli to accept any bid for the player in excess of £60 million.

That is beginning to worry the Serie A giants as the likes of PSG, Real Madrid and Manchester City begin circling on the player.

Napoli know Europe’s top clubs are able to afford the transfer clause and that could leave them powerless to stop Cavani leaving the club come the summer.

Reports in recent days had suggested that the club were hoping to agree a new deal with Cavani that would remove the release clause and extend the player’s stay at the club.

But Napoli have poured cold water on the speculation insisting the Cavani’s contract situation remains the same and that there are no intentions to renegotiate a new deal.
