Former Manchester United centre-back believes Ferguson keen for reunion with Portuguese winger.

Former Manchester United centre-back Gary Pallister has expressed his belief that Sir Alex Ferguson is keen to bring Cristiano Ronaldo back to Old Trafford according to Goal.com.

“I know for sure that Sir Alex would love to have Ronaldo back at Old Trafford,” said Pallister.

“To be honest, I didn’t think it would be likely, especially this summer, but I’m coming round to it now.

“A lot depends on whether Jose Mourinho stays at Real, but, if not, Ronaldo could be tempted into a return.”

Ronaldo left Old Trafford to join Real Madrid for a world record £80 million in 2009. The Portuguese winger is still fondly remembered at Old Trafford and received a warm welcome back to the stadium when he arrived with Real Madrid for their Champions League last sixteen knockout tie.

In fact, Ronaldo is said to have been so touched by his reception that he is considering making a move back to the club.

Ronaldo is known to enjoy a good relationship with Sir Alex Ferguson as he has often stated publically that Fergie is like a father to him.

Pallister has revealed his belief that Ferguson is keen to bring the player back to Old Trafford as the United boss looks to raise the bar on rivals Manchester City.

Ferguson has braced himself for some big summer spending from City as they look to mount an improved bid for the Premier League title next season and the United boss reportedly believes that the signing of Ronaldo would make City unable to catch their bitter rivals.
