Premier League duo cast eye over 19-year-old.

Chelsea and Manchester United are set to lock horns in the battle for young Egyptian defender Ramy Rabia, according to Sky Sports.

The 19-year-old is currently on the books of Al Ahly and has seen his stock rise as one of Africa’s hottest prospects recently having made his debut aged just 17 and already gaining five caps for the Egyptian national team.

He is set to captain his country at the under-20 championships in Turkey next month where he is expected to attract even more attention from clubs around Europe.

A number of top sides have already been monitoring his situation with Borussia Dortmund, Lille and Schalke all lining up to take a closer look.

However it is Chelsea and Mamchester United who have jumped ahead of the queue after Rabia confessed to being keen on a move to the Premier League and even signing up with British based agency SEM.

An SEM spokesman confirmed: “A number of clubs have expressed an interest, but at the moment Ramy is looking forward to the Under-20 World Cup.”

Rabia has made 46 appearances for Al Ahly since breaking through in 2010 and has already gained a long list of domestic honours during his sort time as a professional.
