Gareth Bale’s agent Jonathan Barnett has told Spanish TV that he and his client would be honoured to discuss a move to Real Madrid this summer, according to Sky Sports.

The Tottenham star has been in superb form this season, scoring 26 goals in all competitions and lighting up the Premier League with his displays.

His performances have not gone unnoticed, as he received the double player of the year award from both the PFA and the Football Writers’ association, as well as attracting interest from Real Madrid and Manchester United.

Barnett has said that he believes his client is even better than Brazilian sensation Neymar, who has just signed for Barcelona, but added that, while Real’s interest is flattering, Bale is not currently free to talk about a move as Spurs have not accepted a bid from the Spanish giants.

“If Florentino [Perez, Real president] is interested in Gareth Bale, then that would be an honour and we would listen, but his contract is with Tottenham,” he said.

“But we are not free to talk to anyone.

“He is a much better player than Neymar, he has proven himself in one of the best leagues in the world, the Premier League.

“And I would hope any club wanting him, would not want him because they lost out on Neymar but because he was first choice.

“This is all crazy, but whatever Neymar cost – Gareth Bale is worth more.”

Real Madrid’s fans apparently agree, as they voted for Bale over Neymar in a recent supporters’ poll over who they would rather the club signed.

The club are reportedly willing to offer around £65million to land the Welsh winger, which would make him the second most expensive player of all time after Cristiano Ronaldo, who Real signed from Manchester United for £80million in 2009.
