Mourinho keen on highly-rated Fiorentina striker.
Jose Mourinho will look to compete with Arsenal for the signing of Fiorentina striker Stevan Jovetic if he rejoins Chelsea, according to the Daily Express.
The 23-year-old has been linked strongly with the Gunners for the last few months, and they appeared to be beating Juventus to his signature, as Fiorentina were not keen on selling to a Serie A rival.
However, Chelsea may now enter the race and will be able to beat Arsenal’s offer, with the Gunners seemingly unwilling to meet the Italians’ asking price of £25million.
The decision to pursue Jovetic comes after Chelsea look set to miss out on a number of their other main targets upfront. The Blues are keen to replace the misfiring Fernando Torres, but will miss out to Manchester City for Edinson Cavani and to Monaco on Radamel Falcao.
Robert Lewandowski had also been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge, but he appears to be close to joining Champions League winners Bayern Munich.
It will be a blow for Arsenal to miss out on Jovetic, but they may still be in with a chance of signing Gonzalo Higuain from Real Madrid, and have eyed up Lyon striker Bafetimbi Gomis as a possible backup option as well.
