Former Gunners captain hoping to secure a return to the club.
Cesc Fabregas is set to turn down the advances of Manchester United and return to Arsenal according to The Mirror.
United have been strongly linked with the Spanish playmaker in recent weeks, with reports suggesting that new boss David Moyes had made Fabregas his top summer target.
Moyes is reportedly keen to bring in reinforcements in the middle of the park and was hoping to lure Fabregas to Old Trafford.
But that is set to be scuppered by the player’s desire to return to Arsenal, where he played from the age of 16 until he left for the Nou Camp in a £35 million deal in 2011.
Arsenal continue to hold first option on his signing and are set to exercise that to bring him back to the Emirates.
Barcelona are thought to be reluctant to sell Fabregas but the player is pushing for a move with the World Cup just around the corner.
While Fabregas does currently get game time for the Catalan giants, he has become increasingly frustrated at being overlooked for the big European games.
The signing of Fabregas would be the perfect answer to fan’s concerns about the club’s decline in recent years. Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is set to spend big this summer as the club loo to re-establish themselves amongst the teams capable of challenging for the Premier League title.
