Sturridge could be out for the start of the new season, leaving Liverpool short of striking options if Luis Suarez leaves.
Daniel Sturridge could miss the start of the Premier League season, meaning Liverpool will be short of strikers if Luis Suarez leaves during the summer.
The Daily Express reports that Sturridge fears he will be out for 3/4 months, missing the start of the new season and with the Luis Suarez saga rumbling on it could leave Liverpool short of recognised strikers.
Suarez is keen to move away from Anfield following another controversial season, with both Real Madrid and Athletico Madrid said to be preparing £40 million bids for the striker.
Italian giants Juventus are also said to be interested in Suarez who looks almost certain to leave during the summer.
Liverpool are expected to sign Spanish striker Iago Aspas from Celta Vigo this week, with the player set to go for a medical.
That looked like it might ease manager Brendan Rodgers striking problems but with Sturridge looking like he may miss the start of the season, the Welsh manager may have to dip into his transfer fund again to buy another striker.
Liverpool have been linked with out of favour Aston Villa striker Darren Bent all season.
The injury to Sturridge may mean Liverpool step up their interest in Bent again.
