Stamford Bridge manager hopes to bring Bernabeu centre-back to West London.
Jose Mourinho plans an ambitious move to lure Real Madrid youngster Raphael Varane to Stamford Bridge according to the Daily Telegraph.
The returning Blues boss left the Bernabeu after an acrimonious falling out with the La Liga side and it would be fairly impossible to imagine the Spanish giants considering selling the talented young Frenchman to the Chelsea manager but that may not prevent Mourinho from attempting to do so.
Mourinho gave Varane the chance to shine in the Real Madrid back-line, showing a great deal of confidence in a player he brought in from Lens in June 2011.
After a tentative first season at the club Mourinho had enough faith in the defender to oust Pepe to make way for the Lille born starlet, who has not looked back since.
Varane barely turned 20 six weeks ago but that didn’t stop Mourinho from given the centre-back 28 first team starts in all competitions last term and has seen the youngster mature into one of the hottest prospects in European football.
Mourinho may see Raphael Varane as a long term replacement for John Terry but the odds must surely be against the Portuguese manager managing to pull off such a move this summer.
