Ronaldo is on the brink of renewing his contract with the Spanish giants.
Cristano Ronaldo is reportedly close to signing a new contract with Real Madrid according to Marca.
The Portuguese star will sign a contract extension that will keep him at the club until 2018 and clauses in his contract will give him bonuses for certain achievements, such as scoring goals or winning awards like the World Player of the Year.
Reports claim that the contract extension is basically a done deal, with the only sticking point being who controls Ronaldo’s image rights.
Speculation had mounted over last season that Ronaldo could be on his way out of Real Madrid, with the player saying he was unhappy at the club in October.
A move back to former club Manchester United was reportedly on the cards, with Ronaldo clearly enjoying being back at Old Trafford during Madrid’s Champions League 2nd Round match in March.
Chelsea were also said to be monitoring the situation, as were French club Paris St Germain but it now appears that Ronaldo will be staying at Madrid for the foreseeable future.
Ronaldo could be joined at Madrid by Spurs winger Gareth Bale, who has been the subject of intense speculation surrounding his future.
Madrid President Florentino Perez recently said that Los Blancos would be interested in signing the Welshman.
