Now boss Manuel Pellegrini wants to add Real Madrid’s Angelo Di Maria to his new side.
Manchester City are set to bid £30 million for Real Madrid winger Angelo Di Maria as new boss Manuel Pellegrini wants another winger to help City reclaim the Premier League title.
The Sunday People reports that Pellegrini will be named City’s new boss next week and has asked club official’s to sign the highly rated winger.
City have already added one winger to their squad for next season in the form of Jesus Navas, who recently made a £17 million move from Sevilla.
The club also signed Fernandinho from Shatkar Donetsk for £34 million, meaning if £30 million rated Di Maria made the move to the Etihad, City’s spending this summer would be close to £80 million.
City’s sporting director Txiki Begiristain and chief executive Ferran Soriano will fly out to Madrid this week to have talks with Real Madrid President Florentino Perez, who will probably demand more than £30 million for Di Maria, gaining more funds for his pursuit of Tottenham winger Gareth Bale.
Manchester City’s summer spending may not end with Di Maria as Pellegrini wants to bring playmaker Isco with him from Malaga but City’s directors are thought to be unwilling to sanction a move for another central midfielder.
