Former Tottenham midfielder Luka Modric says he is happy at Real Madrid, despite links with a summer move to Chelsea and Manchester United, according to the Sun.

The Croatian has struggled to settle in La Liga following his £33million move from Spurs last summer, and was even voted by Spanish football fans as the worst signing of the season, though this appears not to have phased him.

With Jose Mourinho leaving as manager of Real Madrid to return to former club Chelsea, it was thought that he might look to lure Modric back to England with him.

However, Modric says that, despite his admiration for Mourinho, he is keen to continue to live his dream playing for Real Madrid, and that he is not even thinking about leaving the club.

“I’m not even thinking about the possibility I could leave Madrid this summer,” he said. “But there is interest from other clubs.

“Every kid who plays football dreams about playing for Real Madrid. It was the same with me.

“Of course I was sad when Jose Mourinho left. He was the one who insisted in bringing me to Madrid.

“He is a fantastic coach and I am honoured to have worked with him.”

Modric’s inability to find his best form in Spain has also seen him linked with Manchester United and Manchester City, as he established himself as one of the best midfield playmakers in the Premier League during his time with Tottenham.
