Real Madrid have warned potential suitors of Gonzalo Higuain that they will have to stump up the cash if they are to secure the player’s signature according to Goal.com.

The Argentine forward is widely expected to leave the club this summer after finding himself increasingly marginalised over the last few seasons.

Higuain often found himself sitting on the bench last season with former Real boss Jose Mourinho preferring to play French striker Karim Benzema. Mourinho has now left the club but Higuain’s prospects of first team football are unlikely to improve with the Spanish giants keen to bring in attacking reinforcements over the coming months.

Higuain is reportedly keen to secure first team football as he looks to ensure his place in Argentina’s team in next summer’s World Cup finals tournament in Brazil.

The likes of Juventus and Arsenal are thought to be leading the chase for Higuain’s signature. It is thought that the Gunners currently have the edge over their Italian rivals as the Serie A champions are believed to be unwilling to break the £20 million mark.

Real are thought to be holding out for £25 million and that could pave the way for a move to the Emirates Stadium.
