Arsenal winger Gervinho could be on his way out of the club, with Marseille stepping up their interest in the Ivory Coast international, Goal.com reports.

The winger has struggled to make an impact at the Emirates since he made the move from Lille two years ago and he has often found himself starting games on the bench.

Marseille’s assistant manager Franck Passi has said that Gervinho is exactly the sought of skilful wide player that the club are looking for and are also interested in Sporting Lisbon winger Diego Capel.

In an interview Passi said, “”This is a profile that interests us, yes. We want flank players, with dribbling, passing and scoring and Gervinho has this profile.”

The winger has also been linked with a move back to his former club Lille while Turkish side Fenerbache also look set to enter the race for the Ivorian.

Gervinho made only 18 Premier League appearances for Arsenal last season, scoring 5 goals in an underwhelming campaign.

Arsenal are set to spend big this summer and some current players will need to make way for new faces and Gervinho looks like one of the players that the Gunners will look to offload.

The club are rumoured to be interested in signing Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney.
