Spurs boss won’t let star player leave this summer.Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas is determined to keep hold of Gareth Bale this summer, despite the Welshman being linked strongly with Spanish giants Real Madrid, talkSPORT reports.
The 23-year-old has been a star performer at White Hart Lane this season, enjoying the best year of his career with 26 goals in all competitions, many of them stunning solo efforts at crucial times for Villas-Boas’ side.
However, despite his excellent displays, he could not guide the club into a much-coveted Champions League spot, leading to speculation that he would look to move on to bigger things this summer.
Manchester United and PSG have also been linked with Bale, but it seems likely that Real Madrid will offer as much as £85million for the winger, making him the most expensive player of all time.
Villas-Boas himself has been linked with a move away, emerging as a candidate to replace Carlo Ancelotti at PSG, but he has committed his future to Spurs and expects the same of Bale, as his chairman has told him the club will remain firm and reject any offers that come their way, no matter how big.
“The chairman said that we are not open to offers, whatever they are, and that the player will stay,” said the Portuguese coach.
“In football anything can happen, but these are the guarantees given to me.”
