Agent claims striker is closing in on London.
The agent of Real Madrid striker Gonzao Higuain has claimed that his client is getting closer to a move to Arsenal this summer, Sky Sports reports.
The 25-year old had previously announced his desire to leave the Spanish giants after spending six-and-a-half years with the club since joining from River Plate in 2006, and Arsene Wenger is believed to be keen to sign the Argentine as a viable replacement for Robin Van Persie for the forthcoming season.
Italian sides Juventus and Napoli had both been linked with making big money moves for him too, however, his agent and brother, Nicolas Higuain, has confirmed that the striker is edging nearer to a deal with the Gunners.
“I think that Higuain is now closer to Arsenal,” he told TMW.
“Juventus are a great club, but Gonzalo is too expensive for them. Napoli are a strong side and that place represents a lot for Argentines.
“Saying that, I can’t deny that Gonzalo is now close to Arsenal.”
Higauin’s transfer had threatened to become one of the summer’s most drawn out saga’s but the news will be music to the ears of Arsenal’s fans as they will finally get to see Arsene Wenger put his money where his mouth is and sign a truly world class striker.
