Old Trafford club desperate to secure youngster’s signature.
Manchester United are ready to treble Barcelona star Thiago Alcantara’s wages if he decides to join the team at Old Trafford according to The Metro.
The Spanish youngster is thought to be on the verge of a move to the Premier League champions after the club met the player’s £17 million minimum fee release clause.
That has sparked panic at Barcelona who are desperate to hold on to the player. Nou Camp officials believe Thiago has a bright future and have urged the club’s senior players to do everything they can to persuade the youngster to remain at the club.
But it is understood that the Spanish star is frustrated with his lack of first team opportunities and believes it will be better for his career if he moves to United.
David Moyes is ready to pull out all the stops to secure his man and is set to tempt Thiago further with a wage deal that would see him treble what he currently receives from his boyhood club.
United will need to move quickly though if they want to seal their man as the constant speculation surrounding Thiago has alerted European champions Bayern Munich to the player’s availability.
They could be set to make a late bid for the player which could cause difficulties for United and Barcelona.
