Portuguese star set for bumper contract extension.
Real Madrid are ready to offer Cristiano Ronaldo a highly lucrative new deal in the hopes of warding off interest from Manchester United according to The Telegraph.
There has been constant speculation regarding a potential return to United for Ronaldo, ever since the two clubs met in last season’s Champions League last sixteen.
Ronaldo was reportedly touched by the warm reception he received from the club’s fans and was considering returning to the club where he made his name.
Those rumours were strongly rejected by Real Madrid who have repeatedly insisted that Ronaldo would be going nowhere.
They now look set to act on those words by offering Ronaldo a new deal that would make him the highest paid player in the world.
Real Madrid chairman Florentino Perez has flown out to the United States, where the team are currently out on tour, to thrash out a deal that would see Ronaldo earn in excess of £330,000 a week.
The highest paid player in the world currently is Samuel Eto’o at Anzhi Makhachkala and it has reportedly annoyed Ronaldo in the past that players he considers to be his inferior are earning more money than him.
It now appears Ronaldo will get his wish with the Spanish giants ready to make sure his earnings surpass those of Eto’o.
