Nou Camp side keen on Stamford Bridge defender.
Barcelona have stepped up their interest in Chelsea defender David Luiz with sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta contacting the Brazilian’s agent Giuliano Bertolucci according to the Daily Star.
Nou Camp boss Tito Vilanova is keen to bring in a fresh central defensive option to beef up his rather threadbare options in the position and having been told that Thiago Silva has no intention of leaving PSG the Catalan club appear to be keen on luring Luiz to the club.
This source claims that Luiz may well be keen to join Barcelona to unite with national team colleagues Neymar, Daniel Alves and Adriano but of course the former Benfica man is of course already surrounded by Brazilians at Stamford Bridge with the likes of Ramires, Oscar and Lucas Piazon all being part of the Blues squad.
Luiz has at times looked error prone at the heart of the Chelsea defence but is still on the whole a key performer at the Premier League side and could be seen as a player who better suits a defensive midfield spot.
Chelsea spent £22m to bring in Luiz in January 2011 and has made 109 appearances for the West London club, helping them to Champions League and Europa League successes in the process.
