The young German forward has been linked with several big name clubs this summer.
Schalke’s sporting director Horst Heldt believes that the clubs 19 year old star Julien Draxler could stay with them beyond next summer, Goal.com reports.
Several top European clubs have been monitoring Draxler’s progress, with Chelsea and Real Madrid thought to be considering making a bid for the youngster this summer.
However, Draxler wants to stay at Schalke for at least another year so that he can continue his development and be sure of a place in Germany’s squad for next summers World Cup.
It is thought that the German will move clubs next summer if he continues to impress but Heldt thinks that the youngster could stay with Schalke for sometime.
He told Bild: “It is definitely possible that Draxler could stay with us for another season”.
“He can get better, and of course he is in great demand, but Schalke also have the potential to improve. I don’t think a 2014 is certain.”
Draxler helped Schalke make it into the qualification rounds of the Champions League following his goals for the club last season.
The 19 year old netted 10 times in 30 appearances in the Bundesliga and has already played for six times for the German national team, with coach Joachim Loew seeing him as a player who could have an impact at next years World Cup for Germany.
