Liverpool are reportedly ready to accept a player plus cash offer from Real Madrid for want-away striker Luis Suarez according to the Daily Star.

Having turned down a bid in excess of £40m for the Uruguayan it had appeared that the Anfield side had no intention of selling their 26 year old striker but this source claims that the Merseyside club would be open to an offer from the Bernabeu side.

Liverpool would demand striker Karim Benzema and cash for Suarez and if Carlo Ancelotti did indeed bring in the Premier League ace it would appear to suggest that the French forward would be left to warm the bench and could therefore be interested in a move away from the Spanish giants.

Benzema has had an up and down time of it since his £30m move from Lyon in July 2009, at times sharing duties with Gonzalo Higuain and racking up a modest strike rate, scoring 87 goals in 182 appearances for the La Liga side.

Brendan Rodgers has brought in Luis Alberto and Iago Aspas to boost Liverpool strike-force and with Daniel Sturridge and Fabio Borini to call upon the Northern Irishman may feel he has sufficient options should he indeed lose Suarez, who has repeatedly stated his desire to leave the club.

Suarez scored 30 goals in all competitions last term.
