The striker is set to stay at Schalke for at least one more year despite interest from Chelsea and Real Madrid.
Schalke’s general manager Horst Heldt believes that Julian Draxler can become as a good as Spanish legend Raul, Goal.com reports.
The former Real Madrid striker spent two years at Schalke before moving to Al Sadd and got a welcoming reception from the Bundesliga clubs fans when he faced his former club in a friendly on Saturday.
Heldt is proud that Raul spent some time with the German side and believes that the highly rated Draxler can become as good as him one day.
“Will there ever be a world-class player like Raul at Schalke again? From his potential, Draxler could reach that level one day,” he told Bild am Sonntag.
“Of course we might sign another world star for Schalke in the future.
“However, it’s much more beautiful to raise world stars on your own than signing them from other clubs.”
Draxler had been linked with a move away from Schalke this summer, with Chelsea and Real Madrid thought to be closely monitoring the 19 year olds progress last season.
However, Draxler has committed himself to at least another year at the club as he continues to develop.
He also feels that he will have more chance of making Germany’s squad for next summers World Cup if he is playing first team football with Schalke.
