Sounders fans will be expecting a lot more from where this came from.
With the media circus surrounding Clint Dempsey’s blockbuster transfer to the Seattle Sounders, it’s easy to forget that Dempsey has already been a prolific MLS forward once before.
A graduate of Furman University, South Carolina, and its renowned Paladins sporting programme, a 21-year-old Dempsey was picked eighth overall in the 2004 MLS SuperDraft by New England Revolution.
In his two seasons with the Revolution, Dempsey boasted an excellent record of 25 goals in 71 games.
Rookie of the Year winner and two-time MLS Cup finalist, Dempsey had proven himself a remarkable talent.
