While he might have thought a move to the reigning 5-time MLS champions might be an easy street to a league title, the reality could be somewhat different.

LA Galaxy beat Seattle Sounders 1-0 on Sunday night to move off the foot of the Western Conference. It was only their second win of the season after six games and it came in less than convincing fashion.

The win came thanks to an Alan Gordon header in the first half – but Galaxy keeper Penedo was forced to make ten saves to keep his side ahead. If Seattle had Clint Dempsey available it could have been a different story.

The club’s first win in five games means Gerrard’s future club move up to seventh in the conference, only two points clear of bottom side Portland Timbers. Seattle are eighth but have a game in hand.
