Ex-teammate wants resolution to ongoing speculation.
Former Tottenham Hotspur defender Ledley King has said that he would like to see a resolution to the speculation linking Gareth Bale with a move to Real Madrid end sooner rather than later, Sky Sports reports.
Bale has been tipped to join the Spanish giants continuously throughout the summer and King is hoping that the media circus is not distracting either the player or the club.
“You wish the (transfer) window was a little bit shorter and that everything was out of the way,” Spurs ambassador King told Sky Sports News.
“But everyone’s professional and there is always going to be speculation around top players.
“The players we’ve lost, we’ve never wanted them to go. We’ve managed to keep hold of (most of) them.”
King also admitted he is very excited at the prospect of seeing new signing Roberto Soldado in action following his move from Valencia last week.
“I’ve seen him play a few times in Spain and what I’ve seen is a goalscorer,” added King.
“That’s what a side like Tottenham is looking for, to have someone who can provide 20-plus goals a season, something Gareth (Bale) did last season.
“You try to go out and win the league at the start of the season, win as many games as possible and see where that puts you around Christmas.
“The main squad objective is to qualify for the Champions League though.”
