Brazilian midfielder hints at Arsenal move.
Arsenal target Luiz Gustavo has dropped a major hint that he could be set for a move to the Emirates Stadium, according to the London Evening Standard.
Reports have emerged today that a £15million move could be close to being agreed between the two clubs and the player, and Gustavo has now been quoted as saying he is a fan of Arsenal’s ‘tradition’, as well as of the quality of the Premier League.
Several other teams could still enter the race for the 26-year-old, with a lot of interest mounting in Germany, as well as from Arsenal’s Premier League rivals Manchester United and Chelsea.
Gustavo has stressed that he wants to play more regular first team football to put himself in contention for a place in the Brazilian national team, and he has often found himself down in the pecking order due to the array of world class players at the Allianz Arena.
Despite not being a regular for Bayern, Gustavo would be seen as a good addition for Arsenal, who have lacked a true defensive midfielder since last summer’s sale of Alex Song to Barcelona, leaving Mikel Arteta and Aaron Ramsey to fill that position.
He is quoted as saying: “The Premier League is a great competition.
“Arsenal have a lot of tradition. I need a team that has space to play. It’s a delicate situation. I’m looking for the best option, the best decision. I am going to have to play, to stay in shape and carry on being called up [for Brazil].”
