Liverpool have made an £8million bid to sign PSG defender Mamadou Sakho, according to the Metro.

Reds manager Brendan Rodgers is keen to bring in a couple more fresh faces this summer, especially at the back, and see’s France international centre back Mamadou Sakho as an ideal bargain-buy. Having been made available for transfer this summer due to the arrival of Marquinhos at the club, Sakho is keen to leave the French capital for regular first team football.

Liverpool are not the only team interested in the 23-year old, talkSPORT are reporting that Serie A outfit Fiorentina want to bring in Sakho this summer, and the Daily Express write that fellow Ligue 1 side AS Monaco are keeping tabs on Sakho’s situation at PSG, and are readying a bid for the talented defender.

The Premier League side have lodged an £8million bid to sign Sakho this summer, who will come in and likely partner Daniel Agger at the heart of Liverpool’s defence. With the uncertainty surrounding the future of Martin Skrtel at the club, Rodgers wants to bring in some competition at the back, strengthening squad depth.

Having failed to sign Kyriakos Papadopoulos from Schalke this summer, Rodgers is keen to bring another centre back into the mix. He is also closing in on a deal to sign Guilherme Siqueira from Granada for £6million this summer, and the Reds have joined Tottenham in the race to sign attacker Willian from Anzhi Mackachkala.
