Arsenal open talks with Real over Argentine star.
Arsenal have begun negotiations with Real Madrid over the possible signing of Argentine winger Angel Di Maria, according to Goal.com.
The Gunners are keen to bring in new additions upfront before the end of the transfer window, and have recently been linked with a double raid on Real Madrid, as they are also keen on signing French striker Karim Benzema.
Arsenal were also close to signing Gonzalo Higuain from the Spanish giants earlier this summer, though the 25-year-old eventually ended up joining Serie A side Napoli instead.
Madrid are willing to let Di Maria leave as they close in on a direct replacement in Tottenham’s Gareth Bale, whose £93million move to the Bernabeu is said to be imminent, and Arsenal fancy their chances of landing the talented attacker for around £26million.
However, they will have to wait on Benzema, as a deal for the French international could depend on whether or not Real can manage to prise Luis Suarez away from Liverpool as a replacement.
Suarez was also linked strongly with Arsenal earlier this summer, and has now emerged as a late target for the La Liga side as they look to overhaul their attacking options.
Di Maria has also been linked with Manchester United at points this summer.
