Arsenal have enquired about the availability of Ba, who has fallen down the pecking order at Chelsea following the return of Jose Mourinho at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea are demanding £2 million from Arsenal if they want to take striker Demba Ba on a season long loan, Goal.com reports.

The Gunners are desperate to sign another striker before the transfer window closes at 11pm tonight and have lined up Ba as a player who could compete with Olivier Giroud for a starting spot in the Arsenal team.

Arsenal have earmarked Ba for a medical at the clubs London Colney training ground on Monday evening in case a deal can be done with the Blues before the 11 pm deadline.

It will all down to whether Arsenal are willing to pay Chelsea’s £2 million loan fee for Ba, who could be set for a season on the bench at Stamford Bridge if he remains with the Blues.

The striker hasn’t made the bench in Chelsea’s last two games and could fall even further down the pecking at the Blues following the arrival of Samuel Eto’o.

Roma were thought to be interested in signing Ba but their interest in the striker has cooled and they are now targeting Juventus striker Fabio Quagliarella, meaning Arsenal appear to be the only team interested in signing Ba.
