Real Madrid have reportedly taken a keen interest in Man United keeper David de Gea according to Italian source TuttoMercato.

The young Spanish international, who did of course previously represent Real Madrid’s local rivals Atletico before moving to Old Trafford, has overcome a sticky start to his Man United career to make the first team spot his own and is now a pivotal part of David Moyes’s first team set-up and as such is unlikely to be a player the Premier League title holders would consider offers for.

Carlo Ancelotti has surprisingly kept faith in Diego Lopez between the sticks for much of this term, leaving Iker Casillas to warm the bench as he did for much of the last campaign under Jose Mourinho. Either way the Bernabeu side seem to see De Gea as a long term successor to whomever they currently choose to select as their custodian.

De Gea cost Man United £18.6m back in the summer of 2011 and has made 86 appearances for the club and kept Anders Lindegaard out of the starting spot thanks to a consistent series of displays over the past year or so.
