Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has revealed that he hopes club legend Iker Casillas will change his mind and decide to stay at the Santiago Bernabeu after he confessed that he could be ready to move on during the January transfer window, Marca reports.

The Spanish international has spent his entire career with Los Blancos, but has found himself out of the squad over the past year and has been unable to win his place back from previous deputy Diego Lopez.

He has even seen his place within the national side under threat now as his lack of game time in Madrid has cause Vicente Del Bosque to put faith in the hands of Victor Valdes and Pepe Reina.

However, Carlo Ancelotti has insisted that he hopes the 32-year-old will decide to stay and continue fighting for his place in the starting XI.

“He’s a great goalkeeper, very professional, he helps the team even when he’s not playing. He’s a captain. I hope Casillas stays with us,” Ancelotti said.

“He’s a great goalkeeper, very professional, he gets on with the job in hand, which is helping the team even when he’s not playing. He’s a true team captain.”

“We need to talk to Iker, but it will be a private conversation. He hasn’t said anything to me. He seems alright to me. I can’t say he’s happy, because it’s normal he wants to play, but there’s nothing unusual in the way he’s behaving.”
