Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas will re-ignite his interest in Real Madrid wing-back Fabio Coentrao in the January transfer window according to the Evening Standard.

The North London club attempted to sign the 25 year old Portuguese international in the summer and Man United came close to bringing in the former Benfica man on deadline day but now Villas-Boas will hope to finally secure the attack minded wide-man to help boost his White Hart Lane squad.

Coentrao is on a bumper £100k a week deal at Real Madrid but has started just four of the club’s dozen La Liga fixtures so may be open to a move that will help cement his place in the Portugal national team set-up.

Tottenham are currently using Jan Vertonghen at left-back, a position he is apparently unhappy about filling, and Kyle Naughton has failed to impress whilst Danny Rose is currently out injured so a move for Coentrao makes a great deal of sense.
