Real Madrid are ready to give up on their pursuit of Liverpool striker Luis Suarez in preference to making a big money offer for Man City hot-shot Sergio Aguero according to the Daily Star.

Bernabeu boss Carlo Ancelotti is looking to bring in a prolific marksman to play in a central role between wingers Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale and doesn’t appear to see Karim Benzema as the man for the job, hence the Italian’s continued efforts to bring in a big name striker.

Real Madrid targeted Suarez over the summer but were rebuked by an Anfield side who have no intention of selling their prized asset and this will lead to the La Liga side launcing a £45m bid for Argentine Aguero.

Man City clearly have no need to sell but if the former Atletico Madrid man pushed for an Etihad Stadium exit then perhaps a move could be engineered though it should be noted that the 25 year old has only recently signed a new long term contract that ties him to the Premier League side until 2017.

However Spanish sources claim that Aguero’s contract includes a clause that requires Man City to consider offers from either Real Madrid or Barcelona.

Real Madrid did attempt to sign Aguero when he was at the Vicente Calderon but Atletico refused to sell to their local rivals.

Aguero has been a massive success since his move to England, scoring the injury time winner that helped Man City to the Premier League title and racking up a very healthy total of 60 goals in 101 appearances.
