Having signed for Manchester United in 1992 aged 17, Beckham went on to be an integral part of the legendary Class of ’92 United squad before famously having a changing room bust up with boss Sir Alex Ferguson and moving to Real Madrid in 2003 in a deal worth $47m. Beckham then spent four years at Real Madrid before moving to MLS side LA Galaxy for a contract worth $32.5m (with two loan spells at AC Milan) and finally finishing his career in France at Paris Saint-Germain. During his time in France, he donated all of his wages to a local charity.

His current net worth is estimated to be $260m, with $47m currently in endorsements and his last annual salary reportedly $5m. David Beckham is as much a successful brand as he is a successful footballer, having previously had sponsorship deals with Police Sunglasses, Motorola, Pepsi, Yahoo, Samsung and Armani he has built up a cult following for his performances on the pitch which has helped him launch ‘Brand Beckham’. Even now he is retired he has launched new deals with Adidas, Burger King, Breitling, Sharpie, Sky TV, Sainsbury’s, his own Aftershave and even a clothing range with H&M Menswear.

Earning his first England cap aged 21, Beckham then went on to Captain the side over a six year period. He became the first England player to score in three World Cups and made 115 appearances for England. He remains the first Englishman to win league titles in four countries and is the third in the Premier League’s all time time assist provider chart, with 152 assists in 265 appearances.
