Bavarians hope to land Brazilian at some point this month.
Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich want to sign in-demand Chelsea defender David Luiz in the January transfer window, according to reports in the Daily Mirror.

The highly rated Brazil international has been attracting the attentions of a number of big-name clubs throughout the Continent of late after seemingly being made surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge by the west London club’s returning head coach Jose Mourinho, with the self-styled Special One preferring to go with the English duo of John Terry and Gary Cahill as his central-defensive duo of late.
And with Luiz spending the majority of his time so far this season warming the substitutes’ bench, speculation of late has been rife that the 26-year-old would be on his way out of the capital at some point this month, with La Liga champions FC Barcelona having also been heavily linked with making their own move for the central defender.
However, it now appears as though the current Uefa Champions League holders are set to make their own play for Luiz, who is contracted to Chelsea until June 2017, as Bayern manager Pep Guardiola seeks to strengthen his back line for the second half of the campaign.
