The 28 year old England man was strongly linked with a Man United exit last summer but didn’t let the speculation affect his game, with the former Everton man arguably being the most consistent performer in David Moyes’s squad, but a move at the end of the current campaign may prove far more likely.
Ancelotti may see Rooney as a preferable striking option to current first choice Karim Benzema and the Man United man could form part of a truly mouthwatering three pronged attack alongside former team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo and Welshman Gareth Bale.
Rooney is not only Man United’s leading Premier League goal-scorer he is also the their chief assist maker and a player the Premier League title holders would not want to lose, however come the summer he will have a year to run on his current contract and with no new deal being close to signed they may have to consider offers for the star performer before his value significantly plummets, as it surely will do the moment he moves into the final year of his contract.
Carlo Ancelotti is also said to be monitoring Man City’s Sergio Aguero and AS Monaco forward Radamel Falcao but not only would a move for Rooney prove cheaper than a move for either of those two South Americans, he would arguably be a more rounded, better fit, in Real Madrid’s attack.
