Old Trafford boss David Moyes will see Nemanja Vidic in the summer and could see 29 year old Brazilian international Miranda as an ideal replacement.
Miranda has been in fine form of late and has been a regular in the Vicente Calderon defence since moving from Sao Paulo to the Spanish capital in January 2011, making 123 appearances for Diego Simeone’s over-achieving side.
A move to Man United may tempt Miranda though Simeone would be loathed to lose the centre-back.
As well as losing veteran Vidic Moyes will also see Rio Ferdinand and Patrice Evra out of contract in the summer and the Scot will have to look to ably replace both defenders in the summer.
Moyes will hope to be backed with the funds to bring in a number of summer additions at the end of what has proven a very tough debut campaign in charge of Man United.
