The North London side ready to bring in the Argentine international to replace his countryman Erik Lamela, who looks likely to leave White Hart Lane after struggling to make an impact at the North London club following his £30m move last summer.
Former Benfica man Di Maria is apparently open to a move to Tottenham, with the 26 year old angering a significant portion of the Bernabeu faithful with an apparent obscene gesture aimed at them earlier this season.
Di Maria has at times been a hugely impressive player at Real Madrid but the signing of Gareth Bale and Isco over the summer has certainly lessened his importance at Real Madrid.
Angel Di Maria has started 18 La Liga fixtures this term but perhaps tellingly has been hauled off and subbed on 13 occasions.
Spurs boss Tim Sherwood would dearly love to have a player of Di Maria’s obvious abilities playing out wide and the Real Madrid man could perhaps act as an able replacement for Gareth Bale though one imagines Champions League qualification would be key to Tottenham’s chances of signing the flair player.
Di Maria has scored 34 goals and provided 61 assists in his 171 appearances for Real Madrid.
